Concepts…. let the weirdness begin.

‘Scale’ a collaboration with my class mate Anne May.

One of the classes I am studying this year is ‘Studio Concepts’.

For the last 6 weeks we have been looking at how scale, materials and surface effect how we see artworks…. and actually everything.

Here are my funny little finished works from the ceramics studio.

Next 6 weeks ….  I will be in the jewellery studio.

Starting with this photographed image from last time…..

…I worked back with a this still life painting…..and the selection, stretching and compacting and eraser tool ….

to create this .

Then I played around a bit more with this beautiful Denis Spicer….

….adding…

Little left over ‘pixals’ copied on the scanner.

….and this awesome fonts mashup I found on the internet.

Dropping out the stitched image and just working with the ‘fonts’ and the ‘still life’ resulted in this….

…and by adding this to the original Still Life….

Found feather black and white still life reproduction from painting by Haunted Hollow Tree on Etsy.

I moved towards this….

I don’t love this image as whole, but I do like bits.

Then ….leaving the feathers (as beautiful and simple as they are) …I played with this image.

I love that the most obvious number is 5 but there are 6 things.

Step 1. Collage , ink and paint.

I’m quite liking the back as well….

I came across this designer/artist on Pinterest and am super inspired by what I am seeing.

Mini musical collages continued……

The mini’s together as a larger work.

Images of each one on cream, tan and black background….

Maybe this will help me know what to do with them in the end.

More….three pears and a pomegranate.

Still unfinished but moving still.

So far…..notice the addition of vanilla and star anise.

I’m enjoying the light but ‘meaty’ texture of handmade paper and thread. Puncturing holes with a needle is surprisingly addictive.

More white on white texture. Ahhhhh

This part reminds me of an injury ….repaired.

I’m also loving the dark leather looking corner. So much texture. I love texture.
